by Jonathan McKee The following four week series has been written to assist you in your ministry to teenage students. Each talk focuses on Christ in His encounters with specific individuals as written in the Gospels. Each talk will provide a title, the passage, the main point, the sound byte (the main point put in a catchy phrase), the rationale (the sub-points), and stories, quotes or examples you can use. If you have not read Jonathan's article "HIGH IMPACT SPEAKING" on this CD, I encourage you to read it before going over these talks. Then the layout will make more sense. These talks lack one thing ... they're missing you. These talks need you to put your own personal touch on them to make them yours. If you are just looking for an outline you can glance at 5 minutes before you walk on stage, then you're doing your audience a disservice. These talks are for you to study and own. Then you can fill in your own personal stories and your own personal touch so that they come from you. HOW TO USE THESE TALKS An outline is provided for each talk. The last thing you want to be doing in front of a group of students is reading a manuscript. These talks are created so that you can remember the main point and it's sub-points without looking at notes. If you have to use notes, you should get to know your points and your stories well enough that you only have to read the scripture out of your Bible, and refer to your basic outline when necessary. One thing you'll find about these talks is that the stories alone are entertaining. These talks are built around a story. I have placed the points of the talk throughout the story. Since each talk is really "one big story", you don't need to rely on a lot of extra examples and illustrations. Sometimes illustrations will be provided. Other times the outline will prompt you to come up with a personal story to illustrate the point. Again, these personal stories will be much better than most stories I give you because - they're yours. Enjoy the talks and ... keep up the good work. 1 Thes. 1:2-3 (NIV)
