Revenge

Main Point: All people are worthy of respect because of the infinite value God places on each one of us

Supplies: Youth Challenge or Game props

Kids Arrive: about 6:30-6:45

  • make them feel welcome
  • learn names and interests
  • give new people a New Person Form

    Bring it together: about 7:15pm

"Hey, glad to see you all here. Welcome to ??????

Introduce new people: give them a blow-pop, skittles, or snickers bar, etc.

Youth Challenge: (an up front game/crowdbreaker) Have two students come up and do some challenge against each other. (Chubby bunnies, dollar hop, baby food eating contest, burp contest, etc. Be creative!!!

    Announcements: upcoming activities, events

    Games:

Girl/Guy Newspaper Throw/block- Divide into guys and girls. Get everyone on one side of the room. Get one girl volunteer and one guy volunteer to guard their specific empty box in which each team is trying to throw rolled up newspapers into. Volunteers try to bat incoming origami boulders with rolled up newspapers.

Girl/Guy Newspaper War- Guys verse girls- each on one side of room- try to throw newspaper origami boulders to other side. Yell stop (good luck) and side with more on it loses.

Smack Attack (Steal the Bacon revised)- Rolled up newspaper on a up side down trash can in the middle of the room. Number 2 teams off and call out #'s. Object is to grab the newspaper first and smack the other person before he or she gets back to their side. Can't go back to your side until newspaper is grabbed.

Wipe Out- Bring a small volunteer up to demonstrate surfing while lifted three feet in air (on a boogie board). When you yell "wipe out", the person jumps off, bailing out. Blindfolded person stands on boogie board and is lifted only 3 inches in air. Put hands on staff persons shoulders to balance (staff person is on knees to convey that blindfolded person is 3 feet in air). Yell "wipe out" and watch person get surprised when only 3 inches.

Encore- Divide guys and girls and give them 15 seconds to sing (together as a group) at least 5 lyrics of a song that has the word in it that you yell out. (e.g.: 1. Man,guy, or boy 2. Woman, Lady or Girl 3. Street 4. Give 5. Love 6. Wait 7. Life 8. Car 9. Rain 10. Christmas)

Kiss and Tell- Send 2 guys and 2 girls out of the room- tell them they will be asked questions about one of their hobbies and everyone will try to guess what it is. Tell the audience that they think they are talking about their hobbies but they will be answering questions about kissing.

    Discussion Starters:

Optional Drama: Roll play a revenge situation with 2 drama volunteers (pre-arranged is best). Two kids walking along side bump each other- one clearly wasn't looking and was at fault. The other one bumps back- only harder- again the other does and so it escalates. Freeze the action and insert another kid if it fits.

    QUESTIONS-
    What started this fight?
What good does it do to take revenge? (to get even)
Why do people take revenge? (because they were hurt in some way)

    WRAP UP
The truth is that there is no line. There is no way to end the problem other than be the one to make peace.

    1. Revenge will get you no where except into more trouble.
    2. Jesus says turn the other cheek and try to get along with those who hurt you.
    3. God will take care of those who hurt you and He will heal your hurt.
