Understanding that in good times or bad God is in
control
by Andy Matzke
Title- Remote
Control!
Information- This
discussion is designed to help students understand that God’s is in
control. Students will see that in good
times or bad, God is in every situation and in
control.
Items Needed- Bible
Two or more remote control
cars.
*Call students
beforehand and ask to bring and borrow their remote control cars or trucks.
Opening- Choose two students (or more if
you have more cars) and give each of them the remote control to a car. **Do not turn the cars on and let them
practice! Before your meeting set up a
small racetrack in the room. It works
well to just allow the cars to race around the outside of the room. You can set up the rules to fit you
group. Allow the student to race the
cars. You fill probably find out that
each student struggles to control their car!
Transition- “It was difficult for the
volunteers to control their cars at times.
Sometimes this is similar in life.
We struggle to keep control or it may seem like everything in our world
and around us is out of control.
However, the Bible tells us that God is always in control.”
Text- Romans 8:35 “Who shall separate us from the love of
Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or
persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? (37) No, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him who loved us.”
Talk- 1. When does God have
control?
2. Does God ever loose
control?
3. What are some things that have happened
in our world that seems like God is not in
control?
