Candle Blow/Gingerale Drink- two people sitting very close (knee to knee)
in chairs facing each-other compete to drink a full container of gingerale. They
have a candle (which they can never let go of) in their left hand resting on
their left knee, and a lighter and a gingerale in front of them. They may only
drink the gingerale when the candle is lit. They may blow out the other persons
candle but they cannot touch any of the other person's supplies. The winner is
the person who can finish their gingerale first when their candle is lit.
if you move your candle off your left knee, you lose!
if you touch the other person's candle, you lose!
if you touch the other person's gingerale, you lose!
if you touch the other person's lighter, you lose!
you must find the balance between drinking and blowing your opponents candle
Ro Sham Bo Train Everybody grabs a partner and does a
"rock-paper-scissors" (ro sham bo) competion. The loser gets behind the winner
and puts their hands on their shoulders (forming a train). The person in front
of that two-person train ro-sham-bo's with another train. The loser gets behind.
Soon you'll have huge trains following each other until you finally have one
person in front that won every competition. (Staff have to help watch out for
cheaters)
Ameba This game starts out like tag. As soon as "it" tags the first
person, that person has to join (lock elbows, hold hands, whatever) "it". Now
"it" is two people. As "it" tags people- it gets bigger. Go until only one
person is left.
Dodgeball
Wrap Up:
Thanks for coming
Ton's of fun stuff coming up that we hope you can come to
"For those of you that are new to our youth group, we are here for you guys.
We want you to have a place to come, be heard and express yourself. We'll always
have a great time- sometimes we'll talk about things that are important to you-
like friendship, family, and the choices you make in life and how they effect
you- and we're here for you to help you if you want it. Sometimes these talks
will lead to discussions about God. . . and that's okay. Each of our staff
believe in God and have a relationship with him. Don't worry- that doesn't mean
anything funky- we won't pound on your head with Bible's or make you sell
flowers in airports or anything; we just think a relationship with God is very
important and if you would like to ask us about that we'd love to talk to you
about that. But most of all we're here for you and we're gonna have a blast this
year- starting next week for free root beer floats- we're gonna hand out fliers
right now so you can bring your friends next week. Everybody gets free root beer
floats.
See you next week!!!"
