Choices?
Main Point: Help students think about the choice they make and the
consequence, good or bad, that result.
Supplies: 1. Youth Challenge or Game props 2. Small group
questions 3. Video clips, TV, and VCR if using video discussion starter
Kids Arrive: about 6:30-6:45
make them feel welcome
learn names and interests
give new people a New Person Form
Bring it together: about 7:15pm "Hey, glad to see you all here.
Welcome to ????
Introduce new people: give them a blow-pop, skittles, or snickers bar,
etc.
Youth Challenge: (an up front game/crowdbreaker) Have two students
come up and do some challenge against each other. (Chubby bunnies, dollar hop,
baby food eating contest, burp contest, etc. Be creative!!!
Announcements: upcoming activities, events
Games: Choose games from Game List
Discussion Starters: "Kiss of Death" video clip- clip of guy being
pressured into driving a stolen truck for his cousin. After being pressured he
finally gives in. They all get caught, and he ends up doing time.
"Heat" video clip- clip of guy who gets out of jail only to land a lame job
flipping burgers for a corrupt boss who takes a percentage of his check. He gets
an opportunity to earn big money for driving for a bank robbery. He ends up
dying.
Choices skit- make up a skit with students using an example like one of the
above.
Small Group Questions: Throw out these starter questions about the
video clips or skit if you used them.
1. What previous decisions had the individual made that influenced his
decision to do the job/break the law?
The decision to hang out with those kinds of people in the past
The decision to do that kind of stuff in the past
2. Did he owe his friend or did he need to impress him?
3. Would have this situation been okay if he hadn't got caught?

2. What were previous decisions that affected that decision?

situations?
