Caruso (Distrubia and Two for the Money) Starring Shia LaBeouf, Michellle Monaghan, Rosario Dawson, Billy Bob Thornton, and Michael Chiklis Jonathan's Rating: Theatre Worthy Todd's Rating: Theatre Worthy Jerry Shaw (LaBeouf) and Rachel Holloman (Monaghan) are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move. As the situation escalates, these two ordinary people become the country's most wanted fugitives, who must work together to discover what is really happening – and more importantly, why. Todd’s Word: As I said, I loved this popcorn-entertainment, action movie, but if you are not willing to check out your brain and just enjoy… you’ll probably hate it. Here’s why: the premise was so completely far fetched and yet still believable enough to have kept my interest, so I was willing to go where they took me. Secondly, as I have said before (see Transformers review), I love Shia LaBeouf. He’s solid in this movie, bringing his quick wit and “aww shucks” personality; and if that’s not enough they brought in Michael Chiklis and Billy Bob Thorton to round out a great cast. Jonathan’s Word: I have to agree. It was fun. My 15 year old son and I saw it together. We enjoyed it throughout. I never looked at my watch once. Todd’s Word: The action, although not new, is wildly entertaining and finally, it’s the cleanest PG-13 movie I have seen in a long time. Jonathan’s Word: It was clean. There were a few innuendos in the beginning, and then some cusswords throughout. But you’re right. For PG-13… this was clean! To think that this got the same rating as Love Guru (the boring, “should have been R” flop) just defies all logic. Todd’s Word: Ecclesiastes 1:9 tells us there is nothing new under the sun and Eagle Eye is living proof that almost every idea is a retread. Eagle Eye seemed to borrow its car chase scenes, airport scenes, and a few others from a variety of better films. Although at times it felt like I was watching a movie I had already seen, I was honestly having too much fun to notice (or care). Jonathan’s Word: Sure. I’d “coin” this film as Enemy of the State meets Die Hard With a Vengeance. But somehow they pulled it off as fresh. If you are looking for a good summer action flick in the middle of fall… go check out Eagle Eye. SHOULD KIDS SEE IT? Although there is some language and the action sequences are pretty intense, it’s the cleanest PG-13 movie we have seen in a long time. There is one quick conversation in the beginning of the film where some guys joke about sex.
