Directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) Starring Jack Black and a bunch of other people you’ve never seen Jonathan's Rating: Rental The film is written and directed by Napoleon Dynamite’s Jared Hess. If you didn’t like Napoleon Dynamite, you definitely won’t like this. Because where Napoleon Dynamite was weird, Nacho Libre only gets weirder. You make the call—here’s the film’s synopsis: Berated all his life by those around him, a Friar (Black) follows his dream and dons a mask to moonlight as a wrestler. Sure, Jack Black was funny. But if you try to explain why he’s funny to a friend… you’ll be at a loss for words, or sound like an idiot. I’ll try. “It’s funny to watch a chubby guy run around in tight pants????” Yeah… I think I sway toward “sounding like an idiot.” Regardless of its mindlessness, my kids loved it. They watched it twice before mailing it back to Netflix. SHOULD KIDS SEE IT? Sure. Young kids won’t get it, but it’s as acceptable as Finding Nemo. |
