HOW DO I...?
..CREATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE?
By Jonathan McKee

This training is an outline of a leadership training that I do for churches, student leadership programs, and campus outreach organizations. This gives you just a taste of the actual training and may give you some direction. Feel free to use these materials for your ministry needs but please do not reprint these or publish these without asking me first.

Many of us know How to present the Gospel message, yet, we have a hard time finding The opportunity to share .

The process of sharing our faith with students is Going on at all times .

Where ever we go- share the Gospel; if necessary- use words!"

The Process

1. The Greeting

  • Learn their name
  • Learn something of interest

    2. Use their Name

  • Ask about something that they shared with you in the past (showing your listening skills)
  • Compliment/affirm them
  • Make conversation with them

    3. Be a friend

  • Hang out with them- have fun
  • Do something they like to do

    4. Earn the Right to be Heard Your actions will develop trust

  • Develop trust with them by showing integrity and being there for them in times of need
  • Enter into deeper conversations- use "Turning the Corner Questions"

    5. Turn the Corner

  • After listening to them share a personal struggle (broken relationship, parents on their case, etc.), share with them a struggle you had that you relied on Christ to help you through
  • Invite them to a youth group or Campus Life club and ask them what they think about the discussion/talk
  • Take them to an outreach event and ask them what they think of the speaker's talk

IMPORTANT: Don't go on any tangents. Get them thinking about God and move to the next step- don't try to answer all the questions about an issue or provide an answer for every doubt they have. If you do, you'll never get a chance to share the foundation on which these issues and questions can be resolved.

    6. Ask Permission to Share Something With Them

Now ready for a Gospel Presentation
