Featured Article: So is it okay to show the Super Bowl on the big screen at church or not?
Two years ago it was, "You can't show the Super Bowl on
the big screen at church!" Last year it was, "The screen can only be 55 inches." This year... apparently the NFL is lightening up. It's about time! The NFL decided to allow churches and youth groups to show the big game on the big screen this year. Here's a snippet from an ESPN article on the subject.
The NFL will allow church groups to show the Super Bowl on large-screen televisions, reversing a policy
that drew criticism from elected officials. In a letter to U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league will no longer object to "live showings -- regardless of screen size -- of the Super Bowl" by religious organizations, The Washington Post reported. Click here for the entire article. (Shout out to Andrew for sending me the article.) This is a relief for churches and youth groups that have traditionally used the big game as a fellowship activity or outreach event. With the popularity of these Super Bowl parties at churches, we've tried to help make it as easy as possible for you by providing some Super Bowl party ideas as well as a "ready-made" Super Bowl quiz each year. This year we'll continue our tradition providing these free resources.
