Spider-Man 3 Review and Resources: Check out Jonathan's 2 cents on the film and enjoy a free Bible study guide from Fuller Seminary's Craig Detweiler
|
This week is a big week for movie fans as the much anticipated Spider-Man 3 hits the
big screen.
Two great resources: Jonathan's review of the film and a free Bible study guide from Fuller
Seminary's Craig Detweiler.

Spider-Man 3
Rated PG-13 for sequences of intense action violence.
Directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man 1 and 2, The Evil Dead, A Simple Plan, For Love of the
Game ...)
Starring Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace...
Jonathan's Rating: Theatre Worthy
Spidey III probably doesn't equal its predecessors... but it was good fun.
I admit, I really struggled with what to score this film. In all honesty, it probably doesn't
deserve a score of "Theatre Worthy." It's probably more of a "Rental." But since it's from the
Spiderman trilogy... I would go see it in the theatre. Besides, it's a fun, clean film.
In Spidey III multiple plot points intersect. The "real" killer of Peter's Uncle is
discovered. (Please!) At the same time, a gooey black blob drops from outer space and attaches
to Peter's suit (no spoiler here unless you live in a shoebox and haven't seen a preview),
slowly changing him to a dark, evil Peter Parker (for Smallville fans... think of what happens
when Clark puts on the "red ring"). Meanwhile, Peter's ex-best friend Harry Osborn (James
Franco) is still ticked about Peter killing his dad in Spidey I (yeah... you would have
thought they were through with that plot point by now). All these factors collide in Spidey
III.
Predictability and lack of originality aside... it was still fun to watch.

Free Discipleship Guide with Second Edition of Jonathan's Book: This week get a free Discipleship Guide with the purchase of the second edition of Jonathan's hit book "The Top 12 Resources Youth Workers Want"
|
The Second Edition of Jonathan's hit book "The Top 12 Resources" just arrived f
rom the printers. This fantastic resource is recommended by Kurt Johnston, Wayne Rice, Jim Burns,
Chap Clark and others.
Chap says it well:
"For years Jonathan McKee has been providing a dynamite (FREE!) resource for youth workers
through his website. Now you can get the best of his thinking in a single volume. It is handy,
easy to read, and very practical. But don't let any of that fool you - it is also sharp,
poignant, and real. I have been teaching and leading youth ministry for decades, and this is
the best single volume on pragmatic programming I have ever seen. This is a must on every youth
worker's shelf!"
Chap Clark, Ph.D.
Author, HURT
Director of Youth Ministry Programs, Fuller Theological Seminary
THE SECOND EDITION: If you already have this book, you know what a great
resource this is, especially to put in the hands of a new youth worker, a volunteer or intern.
In the Second Edition, enjoy the same great book, but with a brand new Chapter 5 and other
updates.
And this week, we'll send you the WELCOME TO THE FAMILY discipleship guide free with the
purchase of "The Top 12 Resources Youth Workers Want"

TRAINING
Jonathan McKee's youth ministry

Y.S. National Youth Worker
Conventions every year to the all day workshops like his
Reaching Out to the Unchurched training he does
nationally. Jonathan is the author of numerous youth ministry books including
DO THEY RUN WHEN THEY SEE YOU COMING?
and the upcoming YS book
GETTING STUDENTS TO SHOW UP. He trains youth workers, equipping them to not only reach
beyond the church walls, but to disciple them into the church.
