Good object lesson, time limit is good though.
We just recently did this for our small youth group. We had them write down what a relationship meant to them and five people that meant a lot to them. Then we gave them a banana and had them peel it. We told them to cut it into a minimum of 10 chunks (meaning they didn't have to be equal). Putting it back together was the fun part. The kids LOVED this game. Best part about it is that numerous kids have come up to us and told us that every time they look at a banana now they think about how their words and actions can destroy a relationship. Really made an impact. Great game!

Our junior high kids have had a lot of fun with this one. The results are pretty funny. I've also let them use paper clips, thread, masking tape.
